Marató de l’Espectacle The MARATÓ DE L'ESPECTACLE is a big celebration of arts that welcome nearly 200 productions and artists, who present an extract of their work (10 mn maxi). It is the meeting point between programmers, the press and the audience who have the opportunity to see a great number of shows over two nights. In 25 years, the Marató has gained strong experience and professionalism. It has become an unique event, where a large number of artists from different origins, artistic trends and disciplines show a fragment of their work in excellent atmospheric and technical conditions. SHOWCASES This year, the Marató celebrates its 25th anniversary and for this special occasion we propose a wider programme of experimental, risked, original and creative productions. Any type of performance is welcome: performing arts of big or small format, music, video, cinema, flash projection, videogames, videoart, animation, itinerant shows, performances, visual arts, photography, installations. Moreover, the FIRA PICNIC will be the meeting point for organisations, associations, workshops, cuisine, etc, fomenting the exchange of experiences while reflecting the city's multiculturality. THE VENUE Since 1988, the Marató takes place at the Mercat de les Flors / Ciutat del Teatre, one of Barcelona's most prestigious performing venue and with a high international recognition. AIMS
* To foster new kinds of participation and attract new audiences to the new generations of artists through interesting new events.* To promote the creation of a wider and more attractive labour market by inviting programmers from all artistic disciplines. To stimulate the creation of networks which favour the initiative of potential producers.
* To facilitate connection between professionals and the related associations: actors, dancers, circus artists, authors, and others.
* To give to the participants the most information about training centres, rehearsal rooms and others, promoting in this way their professional education and update centres .
* To collaborate to professional development, promotion and spreading of the participating companies and artists.
* To create a big party of scenic arts, where the exchange of ideas and experiences between artists, professionals and the public is favoured.
